Final day of Paris sightseeing

So, we started back at the Louvre, to find a queue, but at least it was open! 

 

I finally saw Nike, who I have admired in books for years and even once incorporated in a poem for Senior English... the Mona Lisa, Venus di Milo, Egyptian artefacts, Roman and Greek antiquities.  It was overwhelming how much amazing history and art was located in just one museum.  I spent a good couple of hours exploring... at the end of the morning, Nike, still, was my favourite.

From the Louvre, we went to another historic site - the Moulin Rouge. We didn't go to see the show, just took a picture with the famous windmill and then spent a few hours wandering the hills of Montmartre up to the Sacre Coeur.

At the top, we took in the view and were entertained by this street performer for quite a long while!

We then took the furnicular back down the hill, and meandered back to our part of town to have afternoon tea and rest a little before heading out to meet my friend, Ruth, for a delicious meal in the 17th.

And so we farewelled Paris.  And packed up ready to board our morning train to Avignon to begin exploring the South of France!
