Music makes a mood! ALB Law Awards.

Last night I went to the ALB Law Awards to fly the Latham flag! I like a good excuse to get dressed up and eat some good food, plus, it was at the Ritz Carlton so I wanted to see just how swanky it actually is (and it is!)!

Awards nights are consistently dull... this one conformed to that expectation in most respects but there was one unique difference - the music! For anyone who's ever attended an awards night, you know that there's always filler music as the award winner steps up to claim their award and then returns to the crowd... usually some soft jazz or 'elevator music' but last night the DJ clearly had a quirky sense of humour... some examples:

• Litigation Firm of the Year: Beat It, Michael Jackson
• Insolvency/Restructuring Deal of the Year: Another one bites the dust, Queen
• Corporate Finance Deal of the Year: Money, money, money, ABBA
• Overseas Deal Team of the Year: Everybody wants to rule the world, Tears for Fears

Latham took home one award on the night (and were nominated for about 8)... M&A Deal of the Year...
